Now, this is utterly shameful! While the entire media is castigating the Honorable Judge Glenn Berman for giving Dharun Ravi what they perceive is a very light sentence, there are Christian Pastors around the country going around making sermons of the extreme volatile kind, suggesting concentration camps for Gays and Lesbians among other nasty prescriptions that include killing and mass genocide. The media gave lip service to those sermons and only said that the people around these pastors were "embarrassed." As if that is all that needs to be said about such craven, distasteful behavior!
I have said before and I will say it again now. Hinduism is all inclusive, and Gays and Lesbians and others with an alternative lifestyle have as much a place in Hinduism as anyone else. GOD accepts all of us for who we are or who we choose to be. There is nothing wrong or shameful in that. On the other hand, it appears that Christianity at a minimum through Bible preachings and Pastoral Sermons showers hatred upon the LGBT community and ostracizes them! So, is it really hard to surmise that the media sponsored hatred for Dharun Ravi is all about his being an Indian and not anything to do with his perceived Gay hatred? NO! This is racial hatred for Indians - albeit disguised as social righteousness, but hatred nonetheless towards a minority community that is incredibly prosperous and living the ultimate Immigrant American Dream. I am saddened by all this.
The following posts show the extent to which the media and the general American public condone hatred towards Gays and the LGBT community. I encourage my readers to reach their own conclusions about the impact of such crass behavior by religious leaders who are supposed to spread the word of the Lord! Is this what Christianity really teaches? Is that the word of GOD and the LORD - that Gays and Lesbians should be killed and exterminated? Is that the background under which the most Christians in this country have been judging Dharun Ravi? Come on! Dharun is HINDU and our religion celebrates the existence of Gay and Lesbian individuals among others! I am extremely proud of the broad minded, GOD given religion that I belong to - I am proud that my religion does not promote hatred like the Bible!
Now, I know of no Hindu leader or Guru or Saint that promotes killing Gays and Lesbians like these Christian Pastors. There is no hatred in the soul of any Hindu for a Gay or Lesbian individual. Why? Because none of our scriptures tell us to hate or kill Gays and Lesbians unlike the Bible!
